Mast Cell Activation Syndrome - A rapidly growing clinical area

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) is rapidly emerging as a significant area of clinical care, with growing recognition across medical specialties. Once considered rare, MCAS is now being identified in a wide range of patients whose symptoms span multiple systems. For dietitians and other healthcare professionals, this presents both a challenge, and an opportunity to expand clinical expertise in a field that is still evolving, and to provide evidence-informed, compassionate support to a population that is often underserved. Developing skills in this area not only deepens professional knowledge but also positions you at the forefront of a growing field where demand for skilled care is quickly outpacing supply.

Why did we develop this course?

We developed this course because people living with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome struggle to find skilled nutritional care. Many patients are left managing complex symptoms and diets without expert guidance. As a result many people resort to getting nutritional advice from forums and unqualified sources, and we have seen the physical and psychological harm this can cause. For us, this isn’t just a professional gap, it’s personal. Alison’s daughter and Chloe’s husband both live with MCAS, and through their journeys we’ve seen first-hand the difference that expert care can make. This course was created to share the knowledge we have gained through years of clinical practice, and to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge tools to feel confident in supporting patients with MCAS.
